United States Eastern Wado Ryu Fedaration
These events serve an important purpose in the life of our organization. They provide opportunities for students to test their skills, for senior instructors to share instruction, and for the wider Wado-Ryu family to remain connected through training, competition, and fellowship.
Whether you are preparing for competition, advancing in rank, attending a seminar, or supporting your dojo, we invite you to explore the upcoming events below.
C.T. Patterson Memorial Championships
Kata & Kumite Tournament
The C.T. Patterson Memorial Championships honor the legacy of Sensei Cecil T. Patterson, founder of the United States Eastern Wado-Ryu Karate Federation.
This annual event brings together karateka of all ages and ranks for a day of competition, discipline, and fellowship. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their training through kata, kumite, and other divisions while representing their dojos and continuing the proud tradition passed down through the Federation.

Fall 2026 Black Belt Examinations
Martial Mastery
Black Belt Examinations are among the most significant events in the life of a karateka.
Within the USEWF, rank represents more than technical achievement. It reflects perseverance, discipline, character, humility, and a continued commitment to Wado-Ryu Karate-Do. These examinations are conducted under the guidance of recognized Federation leadership and senior instructors.
Students preparing for examination should consult with their instructor for eligibility, requirements, preparation, and registration details.
